Bigger Than the Knock
Bigger Than the Knock
What Difficulty Can Transmute in You, If You Let It
What if difficulty was never a flaw in being human, but part of the process itself? Every soul that comes into a body eventually meets something it did not want: a delay, a diagnosis, a knock that will not stop until it is answered. Sometimes, it is evolution wearing an inconvenient disguise.
It is tempting to suppress it or bypass it, push it down, explain it away, or keep moving so it cannot catch you. But what if fighting it where it lives was never the way through? What if, instead, you allowed it to transmute?
To transmute is to receive what arrives as information, not prophecy, and let it move all the way through you instead of stopping at the surface. Heat does not fight water. It simply lifts it into steam. What begins as an obstacle can leave as strength, once it is met from someplace deeper than where it began.
That someplace deeper lies within you, bigger than whatever is knocking. Not bigger in size, but bigger in truth. The difficulty may be loud right now. It may seem to fill the whole page. But it is still only one page in a much larger story.
What are some simple ways you might remember this? It could be allowing your breath to travel all the way into your belly instead of holding it high in your chest. It could be noticing when judgment appears and meeting yourself and others with tenderness instead. Or perhaps it is finding a reason to be grateful, even now.
Some things are yours to change. Others are only yours to release, like weather passing through a day you did not choose.
And even in the middle of it, there is something worth celebrating: the answer that finally arrives after a good night's rest, once you stop trying to force it, or the relief of realizing you do not have to solve everything today. Honoring how you feel without guilt can be part of that shift, too. These small moments may be evidence that the transformation is already unfolding.
You were never only the difficulty. You were always your soulful self meeting it, a multidimensional being who existed before this arrived, and whose truth remains long after it passes.
The knock may get your attention, but it does not define the whole of you.
What in you already knows this, even before your mind agrees?
Reflection Questions:
Difficulty sometimes feels like evolution wearing an inconvenient disguise. Where might a current struggle actually be inviting you to grow, rather than working against you?
Heat does not fight water, it simply lifts it into steam. What in you is ready to change form instead of staying stuck in resistance?
Breath, tenderness, and gratitude are simple ways back to yourself. Which of these feels most within reach for you today?
Small wins count as real evidence, not just consolation. What is one recent moment when you met something hard with more grace than usual?
You existed before this difficulty arrived, and the truth of who you are as a soulful self remains long after it passes. What does it feel like to remember that, even for a moment?
